Pilates Overview | The Benefit of Pilates

The main benefits of Pilates exercises are improvement in range of motion, flexibility, circulation, posture, and abdominal strength.  In addition to the above benefits, Pilates helps reduce stress, relieves tension, boosts energy, and restores postural alignment.

Pilates workouts are designed to develop lean muscles without adding bulk.  Each person will see benefits from Pilates at different times, but on average, most clients will see results in as little as 4 sessions.  Pilates is different from other types of fitness programs in that every exercise is a full body workout that stimulates blood and oxygen circulation, which in turn, helps to improve the overall mind/body connection.

Regular practice of Pilates also benefits your emotional health.  The smooth, steady movements quiet your mind and soothe your nervous system.  As you lengthen and strengthen your muscles, you’ll improve your circulation and whisk tension away.   Each workout will leave you feeling calm, balanced, and rejuvenated.

Most clients find that as they develop body awareness through Pilates exercises, they stand straighter, they have better balance, and they are more conscientious of what food they put into their bodies.   This results in an overall feeling of confidence and well-being and promotes healthy weight loss.  Practicing Pilates a minimum of 2x a week will yield excellent results, but because Pilates is so gentle, it can be performed every day.
